Dogs win big at homecoming

The Carl Junction Bulldogs were big winners in this year’s basketball homecoming contest. Having been rescheduled due to weather, the boys were finally able to hold their homecoming game against the Lamar Tigers, Feb. 9, defeating Lamar 86-58.

From the first minutes of play, the Bulldogs left no doubt who was going to earn the victory. Carl Junction came out to an early 10-0 lead and led 13-2 with just over two with just over two minutes left in the opening quarter.

The Bulldogs led 17-5 and more than doubled that lead to 43-21 at the half.

Eleven players scored for the Bulldogs, who were led by seniors Jansen Adams, with 20 points and Jake Stevenson, who scored 18 points. Stevenson led the team with three steals and a block.

Junior Jake McClarnon also had a big night for Carl Junction. McClarnon also had a big night for Carl Junction. McClarnon had 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Bulldogs. Other scorers were Payton Walker 9, Garrett Easson 6, Josh Davis 4, Drew Snyder 4, Jacob Bennett 2, Travis Vogt 2, Jordan Keller 2 and Matthaus Klute 1.

Eliysha Spangler was crowned 2010 Homecoming Queen prior to tipoff.
