Carl Junction athletes among picks for All Big 8

The Big 8 All-Conference football list, as many could expect, is full of players from Cassville, Seneca, and Monett, the teams that finished 1-2-3 in the league standings this year.  The Big 8 Conference champion Cassville Wildcats had 10 players on the first team and garnered the two biggest awards as Dave Large was named the Big 8 Coach of the Year and Joseph Gouvion was named the Player of the Year.
Seneca, which was second in the Big 8 Conference, and Monett, which was third, both had five players named to the first team.
The first team offense voted on by the league's coaches was: Mt. Vernon quarterback Corey Phillips; Seneca's Dillan Webb and Monett's Christian Privett at running back; Travis Northern of Cassville and Jackson Tettenhorst were the wide receivers.  The offensive lineman selected were: Adam Prier, Tyler Skinner and Dylan Gibson, all of Cassville; Jason Obermann and Beau Bounous, both of Monett. 
Cassville's quartback, Trevor Tanner, was the all-purpose player and Phillips was tabbed as the punter.
The first-team defense includes ends Bounous and Waylon Doty from Aurora; and tackles Garrett Mahurin of Cassville and Seneca's Derrick Hopper.
Devin Linebrink of Cassville, Chase Price of Carl Junction, Lamar's Colby Hall and Seneca's Bruce Hembree were the first team linebacks.  Phillips, Spencer Witt of Monett, Josh Lewright of Cassville and Seneca's Nathan Fortner were first-team defensive backs.
Gouvion was the first-team return specialist and Carl Junction's Nii Abrahams was tabbed as the first-team kicker.
Other Carl Junction players selected were Zach Warranch as a second-team running back; Jacob Wall as the second-team center; Jake Stevenson as a second-team wide receiver; Brandon Ray as a honorable mention selection at guard; Dakota Sailor as defensive end; and Levi Maggard at linebacker on the honorable mention defensive team.
