Carl Junction Summer ClassicThe Carl Junction Summer Classic will take place June 26th and will feature the Marion Cox Memorial Softball Tournament along with many family activities. The 3rd annual Marion Cox Memorial Softball Tournament helps fund firefighter/EMT scholarships where 100% of the money raised goes to fund the scholarships. Anyone can create a team; businesses, churches, organizations or any nine individuals may form a softball team. The entry fee for a softball team is $150. |

The 4th annual Summer Classic is a free admission event taking place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Activities that will be available throughout the day include the Lowe's Kid's Craft Tent which will give out 100 free wood-working kits which the kid's build on site to take home a wood project as a souvenir. There will also be free horse and buggy rides. The Carl Junction Police Department will be offering bike registrations along with the D.A.R.E car present. The Mobile Command Unit from the Sheriff's Department will also be on hand for people to tour along with the Carl Junction Fire Departments' newest fire truck. An appearance will by made by George Washington Carver portrayalist Paxton Williams. The Big Smitty band is also scheduled to perform a free concert a 6 p.m. along with a free fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Food vendors at the Summer Classic include the Lion's Club providing corn dogs and fresh-squeezed lemonade; the Bulldog Youth Athletic Association providing hamburgers and hot dogs; Hawaiian shaved ice, smoked brats, watermelons and much more. Families are also welcome to bring their own picnic if they would like.
